Man Files For Bankruptcy After Ordering 'Market Price' Hawker Fish
Local office worker Derek Lim is currently facing total financial ruin after accidentally ordering the "Seasonal Price" steamed pomfret at a Maxwell Food Centre stall.
What began as a celebratory lunch turned into a legal nightmare when the final bill for the palm-sized fish exceeded the annual GDP of a small Pacific island nation.
"I only ask for one fish nia, then the uncle give me bill for seven hundred dollars, siao liao lah!" cried a distraught Lim as debt collectors repossessed his Uniqlo AIRism shirt.
The stall owner, known as 'Grumpy Ah Seng', defended the pricing by claiming the fish was hand-massaged by mermaids and seasoned with the tears of underpaid interns.
"Nowadays fish very rare hor, you want cheap go catch yourself at Bedok Jetty lor," Seng barked while polishing his gold-plated ladle.
National authorities have now advised citizens to treat seafood menus like high-stakes poker games: if you have to ask the price, you clearly can't afford the bones.
