Local Woman Fails To Convince Court That Ceiling Leak Entitles Her To 95-Day Staycation

Yee Siew Wah’s dream of a neighbor-funded permanent vacation was cut short after the court ruled that a dripping ceiling doesn't automatically qualify you for a four-star lifestyle.

Yee sought over $30,000 in damages, including a 95-day stay at a boutique hotel, arguing that the leak made her home uninhabitable for anyone without a personal butler.

The board was particularly impressed by Yee’s decision to buy a brand-new ottoman while her bedroom was mid-deluge, and her "emotional distress" claim which apparently didn't stop her from going on holiday.

"Wah lao, she think her neighbor is Marina Bay Sands sponsor ah?" asked one resident.

"Leak only what, use umbrella inside house can already, no need stay hotel one!"

Ultimately, Yee was told that while the leak was real, her delusions of grandeur were not part of the settlement.
