Batam Officer Fired For Extorting Sinkies Without Providing Official Receipt
The Batam Immigration Department has fired an officer for a "disgraceful lack of hospitality" while extorting S$300 from Singaporean tourists.
A spokesperson clarified that the dismissal was not for the bribery itself, but for failing to provide an official receipt.
"We are a developing nation, not animals," the department head stated while hiding a stack of notes under a keyboard.
"If you're going to rob a Sinkie, you must provide a smile and a stamped invoice for their claims department."
"Shouting is just poor branding and ruins the terminal's vibe."
One victim noted that for $300, he expected at least a VIP queue jump and some keropok.
"Next time I'll stay in Geylang," he added. "The extortion there is much better."
